Mr. Lo was trained in physics and molecular biology in the United States. He received a doctoral degree for his research in malignant transformation of mammalian cells by animal tumor viruses. He was a recipient of a post-doctoral fellowship of the American Cancer Society. The fellowship funded his research in certain molecular aspects of embryonic development. He later joined Enzo Biochem Inc., a biotechnology company, as a senior scientist. At Enzo Biochem, he developed various diagnostic probes for which he procured a U.S. patent. The law is Mr. Lo's second career. From 1988 through 1993, he practiced law in New York, focusing on mergers and acquisitions. He relocated to Beijing in 1994 and stayed there through late1997, when he returned to Hong Kong. He now spends most of his time in Hong Kong. While in Beijing and Hong Kong, his law practice is focused on capital market and cross border transactions. He is associated with Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, an international law firm based in New York. Prior to joining Debevoise, he was the resident managing partner of the Hong Kong office of Pillsbury Winthrop LLP, also a U.S. based law firm.
